About Me
My Background
I’m a playwright and composer-lyricist who focuses on comedies with real stakes that focus on the characters, musical numbers that carry the scene, and dialogue that brings in the laughs . Current projects include Dinner with Family, a heartfelt comedy about identity, expectations, and what happens when your aging parents surprise you in ways you never saw coming ; a new musical comedy in development with Aaron Douglas Enterprises, LLC featuring music by Kurt Crowley about belief and belonging; and The Bounty, a science fiction thriller screenplay about how far we go for those we love. Previous publications include the book "The Lights Went Out in Dixie" about the 2011 tornadoes in Alabama, and articles in EpilepsyUSA and Epilepsy Today on my battle with seizures. I’m happy to provide materials upon request and to talk about readings, workshops, and potential productions.
My Writing Process
Comedy craves collaboration, and my process is simple: write the draft and get feedback, rewrite, hear it out loud through workshops or audio readers, then rewrite again, perform a self read-through, and rewrite once more for good measure. Musically, I chase memorable hooks and clear rhyming schemes that help actors tell the story while still being funny.
